Lap Cholecystectomy

Lap cholecystectomy

Although fairly common, gallstones can be incredibly painful and without surgery patients will experience repeat symptoms.

Using laparoscopic – or keyhole – surgical techniques under general anaesthetic, a surgeon will make a number of small incisions on the abdomen in order to place instruments and a telescopic camera. This minimally invasive procedure involves the gallbladder being removed from the liver to eradicate the pain and prevent any serious complications related to ongoing gallstone issues.

A full recovery should be expected within two to four weeks and patients will be able to resume a normal diet.
